Hey Friends!! Mallory here!
This website is a combination of my three absolute passions in life.... Traveling, Shoes, and DIY design hacks.
I always wanted to explore the world, but mostly I was afraid of actually doing it. Excuses of not having enough time or money often drove me away from the thought of actually getting to see the cool places that are on my bucket list. Until one day I decided to stop making excuses and just go... figure out a way to have the most fun, the most affordable way! Since my first international trip to Europe in 2011 I worked hard last making a bucket list of places I wanted to see before I died and in 2015 I began crossing those places off one at a time. The travel bug is a real thing and I believe everyone should travel as often as possible and not break their bank. So, let me be your guide (or guinie pig rather) in affordable traveling!
I've got to be honest... I never really was a shoe girl until I started working at Nordstrom in the Women's Shoe Department. That's when the obsession came and I haven't been able to control it since. Fortunately for me I have a sample size foot (size 6) and have been able to turn my love of shoes into a fun side job and have been footwear (shoe) modeling for over 5 years now. I have worked with great companies ranging from young and trendy shoes from Guess to comfort yet fashionable shoes from Sofft Shoes. It has definitely been a fun ride to see the whole process that goes behind designing, naming, creating, presenting, and selling shoes!
DIY DESIGN HACKS:
Well ever since I can remember I was rearranging my room every month or doing some sort of arts & crafts thing. I grew up taking sewing lessons which is still a favorite past time for me and in a family that is heavily influenced in Interior Design and so I like to think it is just in my blood. I love looking at something and figuring out how to recreate it, or make it better, or give it new life. As I grew up my budget couldn't quite afford the nice furniture or fashion designs and trends I was seeing (probably due to all my traveling) so I learned how to do all sorts of hacks. You know the saying "Monkey see, monkey do"?? Well, consider me the monkey. My passion continued into al education in the Fine Arts Department where I studied Art and Visual Communications in at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah. and I also attended Interior Designers Institute in Newport Beach, California. Which brings me to my side note passion: The Mountains and The Beach. My love of both is truly divided which now gives me my inspiration for my interior designs. Anywhere from rustic to costal with a contemporary yet traditional feel.
So there you have it! Me, in a nut shell! If you haven't gathered by now; I'm a bit of a wandering soul. If my stack of certificates I earned over the years from trade schools wasn't telling enough, then I'm sure my blog is. Nevertheless I hope you enjoy my little slice of the internet and my crazy traveling/ diy/ affordable life as much as I enjoy sharing it with you!
